Luther was a radical, because ALONE he made many changes to the Bible; changes so great that if done by the Catholic Church, it would take the agreement of many bishops to do, in a Council/meeting that would take months. (Or maybe, several Councils.) One big change was that he altered a page of the Bible, changing it to state that people are saved by faith alone. Another was that he discarded several books of the Bible, labelling them as apocryphya, so that the Protestant Bible is much shorter than the Catholic one.
