Is it still bad to call your daughter Lolita?

It's pretty, but I agree that Lolita has become too much of an iconic character for people not to make unfortunate ociations with the name. And even if we do start to forget how the relationship between 'Lolita' and 'promiscuous teen' was first generated, the name has already worked its way into modern language and popular culture as a word that describes a person or style with those characteristics. It's a genre of (like other people have mentioned), a brand of cutsy/gothic fashion in Japan...((the Japanese have also coined the terms 'lolicon' - usually to describe a form of animated children's - and 'loli-shota' - for a male cartoon/anime character who looks and behaves much younger than his age.....it seems like the term 'Lolita' is evolving, even in other cultures...))
