Why do recruits call themselves privates or specialist while in DEP?

I am in DEP for U.S. army and feel a bit annoyed that everyone at the recruiting stations calls each other private this or that when they havent even gone through basic training. Can I eventually get to medical school with these high school specs?

FIrst of all your grades are fine, you are not applying for medical school first, first you have to think you only need to go to a good college (which you'll have tons to choose from ) that has a good biology program. My husband is an eye doc. and majored in Biology and a small private college with only 1200 students. It doesn't matter how well known or big the college is, it just needs to be known for having a great Biology dept. and a college that when you ask them, can show you that they have a high acceptance rate for students who are applying to med. school after their 4 year undergrad. degree. You don't necessarily even have to major in "pre-med" like you think, you can also just major in Biology and take lots of Chemistry cles, too. You won't need as much OOOOOOOPPPPS I MEANT ...MATH to be a doctor as you would to be an engineer for example, it's all mostly science. Now when you get accepted into a college (big or small, known or unknown, but one that has a good "placement" rate into medical schools) than you just need to buckle down even more in your undergrad program so that you can show the med. schools that you are a good risk for them to accept. You also need to do really well on your MCATS and then boom you'll be accepted to med. school. In high school you don't need to worry so much about the community service having tons and tons of hours, depending on what undergrad. school you want. Of course the big name schools like Harvard or Princeton or something are going to be difficult to get into and may need all that, but like I said you can get some VERY good pre-med work or Biology undergrad. degrees at some small liberal arts colleges as well as just the well known ones. If you excel in your undergrad work and do well on the MCATs you'll get in and may even get lots of scholarships if you are just a terrific Biology major. In med school then you basically just need to make it through and you'll be able to find a job since in order to "make it through" you are going to have to p your boards which is run by the state and they make sure you know what you're doing. So once you're in med school as long as you keep a decent average, you don't have to have straight A's to get a job or something since all they'll care about probably is that you ped your boards once you are in the work world. Of course top honors are always good to secure better positions in hospitals etc. when you graduate, but if you just get through, that's your first goal. If you want to specialize after med. school that will mean more years in college again and more work underneath other doctors who do that specialty. So don't worry, don't put the cart ahead of the horse as the saying goes,first just graduate from high school, and have fun, you're young! Then concentrate on taking your good high school grades and a great ACT score hopefully and getting yourself into a university that is known for having a high acceptance rate for people applying to med school, (you'll need to ask your admission counselors at the univeristies or colleges about this before you agree to go there.) Then just do your best in your undergrad. school and you'll be fine. Keep your eye on the prize! I'm sure you'll make an excellent doctor. Good luck in your future! Sierra

I think you should notify the head of the department (not the dean) that the lecturer cancelled the final, that you weren't notified, and that when you did try to find out the date of the final, you were publically ridiculed in cl. I think you should also mention the fact that she publically uses expletives and four letter words and that such behavior and such language brings down the entire department. Although I think the lecturer's behavior is abominable, I feel that the more professional and straightforward are with your comments, the more you will rise above the low behavior of the lecturer. I am personally appalled at such childish behavior going on in what is supposed to be a higher level of education and I'm sorry for you that you were put in such a demeaning situation. Rise above it. Write to the head of the department. Keep it short. Keep it simple. Keep it professional. It's possible that you won't get a favorable response -- or a response at all. I say that because when employees (the lecturer) behave as badly as the one you are describing, it is usually with the knowledge and condonment of their superiors. On the other hand -- it's possible that no one has ever approached the Head with this kind of complaint. If you do not get a response from the Department Head, then write to the dean, enclosing a copy of the letter that you wrote to the Department Head and explaining that you haven't received a response. (Do some homework here -- be sure your lecturer reports directly to the Department Head, if not, write to her direct supervisor, and then, if you don't get a response -- write to the next highest supervisor. Keep going up the ladder till you get a response). Questions about oysters...?

If I buy oysters in the shell from the grocery store, can I trust that they are alive and came out of good water? Also, how long will they keep and stay alive? Do I freeze them or refrigerate them until I'm ready to cook them? If I'm steaming them until they open, will I still have a hard time opening them? My mom is sick she went to the ER last night. Yesterday when she cough she really couldn't catch her breath. She had a fever of 101. When she was at the ER her fever went up to 108. They did blood test on her. She also had shorten of breath and her heart rate was still up. The doctor said she had bronchitis (my mom doesn't smoke. We have relative that do). The hospital released her like at 2:30 am. I went in her room to check on her to see if she want anything to eat. She said her head is hurting. It's been hurting her for over an hour. She had a fever, she had took some tylenol. I don't know if she still have a fever. I went to get her prescription today which was an inhaler. Last time she was sick like this she had pneumonia. That was like between 14 to 16 years ago. Last year when she caught a cold. She also had bronchitis, but it wasn't as bad as it is now. I have a little brother that I'm trying to stay strong for. Deep inside I want to cry. I love my momma and I don't want nothing to happen to her. She's my best friend. I want my auntie to be here because I'm scared. Me and my mom are like sisters. I don't know what to do. Should I call the paramedics again? Should I call one of my auntie? Well I'm about to go check on her. If she has a high fever I'm going to have to call one of my aunts.

The coming new adults will need to know how and have no choice but to manage what they have better than the example some of us have set. Dressing-- in a crock pot?

I've never done it but I use the crock pot a lot and the reason why it seems to me like a pretty risky idea is because of two reasons. 1. Crock pots take a really long time to cook and stuffing doesn't, and 2. You need to add a lot of liquid to a crock pot to keep the food from drying out and balancing liquid in your stuffing is already a bit of a tedious thing to start with. I would think it might turn out either water logged like pasta does when made in a crock pot instead of on the stove top, or it will be really dry if you don't put enough liquid in. Seems like it might be more hle than it's worth. You'd probably be better off doing the green bean cerole (or whatever other vegetable you're )in the crock pot instead. I tend to not take risks though when guests are coming. Maybe try this on your own some other time. That's just my advice. :-)

Extra long period now with blood clots?

I got my period 1st of May and all was normal until the 5th, when I started havinting. There was only just too much for a liner, so I had to keep wearing pads. Around the 15-17th it was light, before spotting again. The spotting went on till the 10th June, when it started to get heavy. I mean, really heavy. I've been having to change my pad during like, every cl, and I keep waking up with my pj pants soaked. My dad and grandparents wanted to take me to the doctor, but my mum insisted it was just a little irregular like hers were when she was my age (I'm 14). She put me on some medicine 2 weeks ago that the doctor gave her to ease periods, but they didn't work. she also told me that because my anti-depressants have been changed that may be messing with my period. After 3 mornings in a row of washing my pjs, she finally decided to take me to the doctor.Since I started getting heavy I've been having blood clots. They are quite big blobs. For Gatsby, it is just being with Daisy, but for Daisy it's so much more. She must have all the life style that goes along with the money. What her husband offers if not love and fidelity is security. Is Daisy happy at the end? For her, yes, we might feel sad that she doesn't have love or is Gatsby better off dead than living with someone who couldn't appreciate what love was? There's is more wonderful money symbolism in the novel so please don't stop reading even if your teacher is a "pushover".

AHH it is a tiger I run faster and faster to try to escape and to no avail I was caught. With it's paw on my stamach I try to wiggle away but instead it flings me on it's back like nothing. Me talking to the tiger. "Hey you always do that! I wanted to run to day" With such blinding speed I reach into a far unknown land where I have no clue where I am. But fear does not strike me! I am welcomed warmedly into there houses. They invite me to eat luch with them and I do so while starring at the large puffy clouds in the sky that is in contrast to the rich blue sky. I walk around with my pet tiger and climb a hill. And on top of it I see a valley with vast mountains that touch the clouds and there is a lake with glisering water at the mouth of the mountain and the lake is feed by a large waterfall. We travel down to the lake to get a drink of water, my impulses tell me not to but I do so anyway because pollution is no more. I look at the sun and noticed I have to get back home for the festival. So I hop onto my pet tiger and travel back where I came from...yet again I am lost! But again I have no fear! I find an young women under a tree eating fruit. I asked her where my house is and she points to the left and tells me to hurry, the festival is about to start. I travel with my tiger once again and finally I am home. I expect my mother to scold me for disappearing but there is no need. Everyone is friendly and kind. It is mid evening and my little brother is playing with blue jays and cardinals and my little sister is playing with lion cubs. My mother hands me giant baskets of food and fruit to be deliver to the festival. I race down there on my tiger as fast as we could and I was just on time! The warm feeling of everyone smiling and love everywhere is overwelming. There I found my new friends I made traveling to an unknown land and we all get along regardless of living in different lands. Then came night time where it was pitched dark. My impulses tell me to get home as quick as we can but there is no need. I take my mom and dad to go look at the valley I found where we looked at the moutains touching the stars and the deep outer space and the stars are they reflect against the clear water. The moon is as bright as a night light getting ready to blow out and the soft warm wind is welcoming. Slowly I drift off to sleep outside as my parents walk away. There is no need to fear anything. He then blindfolded her and led her to her chair at the table. She seated herself and just as he was about to remove the blindfold from his wife,the telephone rang. He made her promise not to touch the blindfold until he returned. He then went to answer the phone. The baked beans she had consumed were still affecting her and the pressure was becoming almost unbearable, so while her husband was out of the room she seized the opportunity, shifted her weight to one leg and let it go. It was not only loud, but it smelled like a fertilizer truck running over a skunk in front of pulpwood mill. She took her napkin and fanned the air around her vigorously. Then, she shifted to the other cheek and ripped three more, which reminded her of cooked cabbage. Keeping her ears tuned to the conversation in the other room, she went on like this for another ten minutes. When the phone farewells signaled the end of her freedom, she fanned the air a few more times with her napkin, placed it on her lap and folded her hands upon it, smiling contentedly to herself. She was the picture of innocence when her husband returned, apologizing for taking so long, he asked her if she peeked, and she ured him that she had not. At this point, he removed the blindfold, and she was surprised!! There were twelve dinner guests seated around the table to wish her a "Happy Birthday"!!!

Going through emotional pain is not easy. When it feels like someone is putting an invisible knife through your stomach and twisting it never taking it out what do you do? How do I make my trebuchet go as far as possible?

For a state competition I need to construct a trebuchet that fits into a 75 cm cube. At the regional competition we thought we did great until we relize that the tie breaker goes to the team the launches the farthest. So now that we are getting ready for states I want some advice on how to tweek it a little to go farther. The counter weight is unknown and will be between 1 and 3 kilograms. Same with the projectile unknown but between 20 and 60 grams. Right now it launches 3 to 4 meters. We were hoping to get it some wher between 10 and 15 meters. Any Advice?

I agree that abortion is wrong in most cases, because it is basically just a tiny defenseless human. The abortion limit is about 20 weeks in Britain (i think). It should be lowered to 12 weeks maximum. After that is just bad. But with growing populations and millions of unwanted, abandoned children i think it would be unwise to ban abortions. I have had that filter before. It came with the tank I purchased. Yes it is for up to 3 gallons. But, the filter does not work well at all! It says all you need is the filter and no bubbler because the filter runs through a bubbler. And that is supposedly adds oxygen to tanks just like a bubbler along with filtering, wrong. The filter hardly cleans as well. I used the filter without a bubbler thinking it would work and the fish died lacking a bubbler. Try any other filters besides this one!

Blotchy leg?

I have had a blotchy left shin for years and I'm not sure what it is exactly. It is most prominent when it's cold out and if I rub it, it goes away temporarily. It's not on my right shin either. Why does my 4 month old spit out her milk? (Not spit up)?

My 4 1/2 month old has been refusing to eat lately. She only eat around 15 ounces a day! I offer the bottle probably about every hour or two, but she seldom accepts it. Most of the time, even when she does suck a little, she will spit it back out before swallowing it. (She is not vomiting or "spitting up") Her doctor said that her spitting it out is strange, but didn't seem alarmed by it. It is definitely a nuisance considering I have to change her outfit about 5 times per day, since she spits her milk all over them. She is wetting and soiling diapers pretty regularly, but I am still concerned. She only eats about 2 ounces at a time if I am lucky. Why this sudden drop in appetite?
